WHAT WE DO IN WORKSHOPS
Early music ensemble La Favoritte is proud to celebrate the musical traditions of New France with schools and community groups. The ensemble offers concerts and workshops carefully created for different age groups and on various themes.
La Favoritte's concerts for young audiences draw on traditional, secular, religious and native traditions in New France. Children are introduced to early musical instruments and to music as diverse as a Huron folk tale, an Acadian turlutte, a rondeau heard in the court of Louis XIV and a motet composed by a nun from the city of Québec. Audiences are invited to add their voices and rhythms to the concerts . Questions are always welcome.
The ensemble offers a variety of workshops for primary to secondary grade levels.
Participants can learn a 18th century country dance, a mouth reel and a 'chanson à répondre', foot and spoon percussions and much more. The workshops focus on living oral traditions that can include many age and ability levels and are designed to get everyone involved and participating. La Favoritte offers workshops in English and French. The ensemble tailors their educational programmes to the needs of individual groups. Please let us know your requirements.
